Computer Consulting Proving Ground Projects: A Good First Test

Trying to decide whether you and a potential client are a good fit can be difficult, but using proving ground projects, first test projects, can make this task much easier. Not only are you showing the client that you can do the work, but also they are showing you that they will pay on time and at the going rates.

During first project, be sure to look for warning signs that this customer might not be all you had hoped:

  1. Change their mind constantly;
  1. Show up late for meetings;
  1. Verbally abuse employees; and
  1. Don’t believe the "rules" apply to them.

If a proving ground project reveals any of these things, think long and hard before you work with this client again; otherwise, you will be in for a difficult ride.
