Concerns with Messaging in 2006

Once again, 2006 will be a year where IT consultants will show concern about messaging security. With so many viruses and security issues spread through messaging, IT consulting firms will have to be on their toes to keep their systems and their clients’ systems safe from harm.

Postini, an email security vendor, surveyed 615 professionals and discovered that security and business continuity are the prime concerns among businesses. Those surveyed also shared that the percentage of spam remains high; for some people, it’s the percentage is close to 80%.

Postini also reports that 90% of those surveyed said that they expected messaging volume to increase dramatically in the coming year. They also found that the Sober virus, launched in November, was the largest attack recorded with Postini having to block 1.2 billion viruses in less than 30 days.

The good news is that more messages are being encrypted and more tools are available to IT consulting firms and consumers. As instant messaging increases for business purposes, though, there are even more dangers. Using solutions such as IMLogic’s Threat Center is imperative for keeping your clients’ systems safe.
