IT Consulting in Micro Small Businesses

Although small businesses are a great market for computer consultants, there are different levels of small business. Micro small businesses are companies with 1-10 computers (usually Windows based), 1-10 employees, and $100,000 to $1 million in revenue per year.

The biggest difference between small businesses and micro small businesses is that micro businesses don't have a dedicated server. Most likely they're bringing you in to work on their peer-to-peer system. Micro businesses can be a great starting point, but don't have a "crisis confidence" and never move to larger, higher-paying, businesses.

For the most part, these small businesses simply need you to be familiar with Windows and help them transfer information to their PDAs. To learn more about working with micro small businesses, read the entire article (link above).
