Stolen US Veterans' Records Demand New Approach to Network Security

Well, 26.5 million United States veterans are at risk today after their records were stolen. One laptop was stolen and now millions are at risk for identity theft. As if they haven't been through enough already, the veterans have another threat to face.

Greg Stock, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Mirage Networks, said, "Incidents like this one are disheartening, but not surprising. The fact remains that there is no 100% solution to security: users are an uncontrollable element. Users generally aren't malicious in their actions, yet they continually bring viruses onto the network, enable the theft of data records, slow productivity and jeopardize network availability. That is why there will always be a need for a solution such as Mirage's, which does not attempt to control users, only which devices can get and keep network access."

Learn more about this terrible theft and what could have been done. You can also find out about what companies like Mirage Networks have to offer to secure important data. You can learn all this and more in the entire article (link above).
