Computer Data Backups: Test Now or Cry Later

Many small business owners ignore their data backups and only think about them when there's a problem. Often they will fail to do them for weeks or even months at a time only to face a catastrophe when they experience serious computer problems.

You should always backup your important files. Then, you need to test them and keep a watch on the log files. Generally, these last two steps are overlooked until the company ends up losing a lot of data unnecessarily. Even then, companies usually forget to continue testing a few months after their data loss.

When you first set up your data backup system, pay careful attention to the way everything should look in the log files. This way you'll know when something goes wrong and you'l'l be able to troubleshoot more quickly and easily.
