IT Marketing: Good Elevator Speeches

Now that you're running your own computer consulting business, you will need master your marketing skills. Good elevator speeches should be one of the first things you learn. Basically, an elevator speech is a speech that you could give to someone you meet in an elevator that would let them know who you are, what you do, and why you're different by the time you get off the elevator.

Your elevator speech isn't just for the elevator, though. You'll want to use it at chamber of commerce meetings and other occasions where you'll meet people for a limited period of time. By creating your elevator speech, you'll also be identifying the important aspects of your business, information that will come in handy when you create marketing tools.

Always remember to focus on benefits not features. Most companies offer many of the same products and services, but you want to emphasize how your company specifically will best benefit the end user.
