Q&A: D&H's Dan Schwab On Digital Convergence

Dan Schwab is the vice president of D&H Distributing, Harrisburg, Pa. In a recent interview with CRN, Schwab shared his views on several topics. See some quotes below.

D&H has made a lot of progress during the digital convergence/digital home push. They have worked to focus on using the channel throughout the process. According to Schwab, "Two of the biggest things that will happen in the next 12 months are the release of Viiv 1.5, the next revision of Intel's digital rights management technology, and the Linksys router with Viiv-approved logos on it."

Also with the Vista launch approaching, many things will change for everyone. Microsoft Media Center will quickly become the standard and working with that in the home audio arena will be a big portion of the changes.

CRN also asked Schwab about the trends he sees with small-business VARs. He shared that "the small-business market continues to grow and we think we are well-positioned because we have the products and the service. Five years ago we had great service, but we didn't have all the products that smaller VARs were looking for. Today that is not really true: We really can be their one-stop shop."

So as you consider going into the digital convergence and digital home arena, keep Schwab and D&H Distributing in mind. For those smaller VARs, you will finally have a chance to have companies including D&H Distributing who offer products that you can use.
