It's like being a girl getting ready for the prom as you try to figure out what to wear while prospecting. You don't want to dress up too much; you don't want to underdress. So what do you do?
Well, first impressions aren't everything, but they are important. A great option is to wear something that is branded with your logo - perhaps a polo shirt. If you'll be attending a sporting event, try a branded ball cap. At the very least, have a name tag. People will begin to recognize your company by the branding, and you'll also have some very versatile clothing.
Of course, if you are going to a fancy dinner, wear something appropriate but for day-to-day sales calls and most cold calling business casual, preferably with your logo, will work just fine. You can be professional and productive without being stuffy.
