Selling Products - Is It For You?

Many consultants make the mistake of getting caught up playing the product profit margins game. Though you can make some money off products, this is usually not a key source of income.

Disadvantages of Selling Product

  • Carrying costs and capital tied up in inventory
  • Product return issues
  • Carrying receivables
  • Merchant account administration

Bottom Line

The bottom line is that you will have billable hours for recommending products and many times for making the purchases of those products. In the big scheme of things, selling products simply isn’t worth your time or money.
